Executive Summary Strategy and Implementation
Wind energy is the fastest growing segment of the $650 billion
annual world electricity market. From 1996 through 2005, the wind industry had a 28% annual growth rate.
In 2005, more than $8.5 billion was invested in new wind turbines worldwide.
An element in our strategy is to find the simplest method of initial market penetration and then sell
directly to the California Power Exchange. We will avoid difficulties of evaluating wind resources,
obtaining siting, financing, and locating potential purchasers of power plants by redeveloping abandoned
or obsolete windfarms. Our strategy places turbines in high wind areas where the purchase contracts from
utilities for wind energy are already available. At those sites, permitting and other regulatory land use
hurdles have been cleared by owners of previous wind turbines and on which initial wind resource testing
procedures have been completed. Marketing will be directed at those power purchasers who are familiar with
the turbines that were operating at the abandoned sites we will redevelop. These purchasers have a better
understanding of the value inherent in the Company's product vis a vis the general public. As a result,
they are the easiest group to sell to.
Market Analysis
The United States electric power industry is valued at $215 billion and growing. The Company's primary
targeted market is California, the first state to deregulate and open up the electric industry to competition.
This market is currently worth $22 billion with annual growth at 2% or $440 million. Mass Megawatts' initial
wind farm will produce less than 0.5% of California's annual power needs.
Within the next 20 years, wind farms could generate $100 billion worldwide, according to the National
Renewable Energy Laboratory. The sites we have chosen are proven to provide wind sufficient to enable
Mass Megawatts to produce electricity, in most cases, at a cost lower than any other fuel source and
sell it profitably on the California Power Exchange.
Sales Strategy
California Assembly Bill No. 1890 mandates that the Independent System Operator must, by law, take
renewable power for delivery to our customer, with our customer defined as either the California Power
Exchange buying at auction or an identified buyer of Green Power. Opportunities may also exist to sell
to an energy service provider at a price greater than the 3¢ per kWh used in the Projections. Extensive
sales efforts will not be required.
